How to Speed Up Your Computer

Is your PC running slow? You're not alone — sluggish performance is one of the most common complaints we hear at Dark Gold Computer Solutions. The good news is that many fixes are simple and don't require expensive hardware upgrades.

1. Clean Up Startup Programs — Many programs set themselves to launch when Windows boots. Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), go to the Startup tab, and disable anything you don't need right away.

2. Free Up Disk Space — A full hard drive slows everything down. Use Disk Cleanup or Storage Sense in Windows to remove temporary files, old downloads, and system cache.

3. Check for Malware — Hidden malware can consume CPU and memory in the background. Run a full scan with your antivirus software or bring your PC to us for a thorough cleaning.

4. Add More RAM — If your computer has less than 8GB of RAM, upgrading can make a huge difference, especially if you multitask or use memory-heavy apps.

5. Switch to an SSD — Replacing an old mechanical hard drive with a solid-state drive (SSD) is the single biggest speed boost you can give an older computer. Boot times drop from minutes to seconds.

If you've tried these tips and your PC is still slow, it might be time for a professional tune-up. Contact us at Dark Gold Computer Solutions — we'll diagnose the problem and get you back up to speed.
